Separate revision, recognised training, and the qualification you actually need

Sailors in Ireland may encounter Irish Sailing and RYA routes, plus separate radio and ICC requirements. Start with the intended use and issuer; similarly named courses are not automatic equivalents, and Irish Sailing currently says RYA certificates are not accepted for its Irish ICC application route.

Define the outcome

Day sailing, skippering, chartering, commercial work, club racing, radio operation and an Irish-issued ICC can require different evidence. Ask the school, issuing body, authority or operator what it accepts before buying preparation.

Reuse without relabelling

Compass Ireland sells EUR access to selected existing RYA-aligned companions. The entitlement and syllabus stay the same; an Irish sales context does not turn them into Irish Sailing qualifications or Irish ICC evidence.

Practical competence remains external

Recognised instructors, schools, examiners, authorities, and operators control practical assessment, certification, original-document checks, radio licensing, and final acceptance.
