Risk Assessment That Works
Risk assessment is not a form to complete after deciding. It is the process of identifying hazards, who may be harmed, what controls exist, whether risk is acceptable, and what must change.
Good risk control is specific to the operation: passengers, route, weather, tide, vessel, crew, time of day, commercial pressure, and emergency options.
- Identify hazards and who is exposed.
- Apply controls before departure.
- Review dynamically as conditions change.
- Record significant risks and decisions.
