  • Explain decision practice for crossing targets, landfall, harbour approach, and false echoes.
  • Apply crossing targets to a realistic onboard situation.
  • Recall the core check: start with the navigation or collision question.

A self-guided revision companion that explains essential concepts, then helps you practise and test them. It supports—but does not replace—recognised instruction, practical training, assessment or certification. Access is a one-time payment, not a subscription.

Scenario Method

Radar scenarios train the order of thought. The aim is not to identify one echo and stop thinking. The aim is to build a defensible decision from limited evidence.

Use a repeatable method: define the problem, set the radar correctly, identify fixed references, sort moving targets, assess CPA/TCPA, cross-check, decide, and monitor the outcome.

  • Start with the navigation or collision question.
  • Choose range and controls for that question.
  • Separate fixed and moving echoes.
  • State what extra information would improve the decision.
