Where You May Stop

Inland stopping places are controlled by signs, bank works, commercial berths, lock and bridge approaches, private moorings, and environmental restrictions. A convenient bank is not automatically a permitted berth.

CEVNI sign families matter here: no berthing, no anchoring, no making fast, berthing permitted, maximum number abreast, reserved areas, and dangerous-goods berth markings can all change the plan.

  • Moor only where permitted and safe.
  • Do not obstruct the fairway, lock approaches, bridge openings, ferries, or commercial berths.
  • Read any distance, time, vessel type, or maximum-number panel.
  • Use lines and fenders without damaging banks, trees, signs, ladders, or safety equipment.
