Canadian sailing progression combines separate knowledge, practical, radio, proof-of-competency, first-aid, and experience requirements. Compass can prepare independent knowledge only; recognized schools, instructors, accredited providers, and authorized examiners control the formal outcomes.
Compass knowledge: Terminology, sailing principles, manoeuvre awareness, Canadian rules and aids, safety, weather, anchoring, docking, and emergencies.
View companionRecognized instruction and observed sailing performance aboard an appropriate keelboat.
Compass knowledge: Canadian publications, CHS conventions, chartwork, compass, position, tides, currents, pilotage, electronic navigation, and passage planning.
